Hellenic Cancer Society is a day centre offering psychosocial support to children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and their families. The day care centre receives calls from people with cancer from all over Greece, asking for help at what is a difficult time for them, and their needs are addressed accordingly.

What the project involves

With this project, Hellenic Cancer Society aims to provide comprehensive psychosocial support and smoking cessation counselling to cancer patients, their families, and individuals throughout the country. The goal is to prevent chronic diseases through stress management, early intervention, and reduced smoking rates, thus improving overall health outcomes and quality of life.

Expected Outcomes

  • Improving the mental well-being of cancer patients and their families
  • Increased smoking cessation rates
  • Increased access to psychosocial support

The beneficiaries

Direct beneficiaries include cancer patients and their families who receive immediate psychosocial support and counselling, helping them to manage emotional challenges and navigate cancer treatment.

The project will also have a positive impact on members of the wider community, who benefit from better public health outcomes due to reduced smoking rates and improved mental health.
