Starting from a similar experience of psychosocial assistance and psychotherapy interventions carried out in collaboration with the Oncology Network in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, Parole in Movimento ETS wants to turn its attention to families who experience bereavement in childhood due to the death of a parent, not only due to cancer.
What the project involves
With this project, Parole in Movimento wants to support mourning processes by reinvesting energy in the developmental pathway of minors in this situation, to help prevent the potential risk of developing mental disorders.
The intervention will also reduce the stress of the surviving caregiver, helping them to cope with the complicated communication processes that may arise following the loss.
Expected Outcomes
- Reducing the risk of developing mental disorders
- Support for bereavement processes
- Supporting the resilience of households and surviving caregivers
The beneficiaries
The project is aimed at families who are facing the death of a parent and have minors aged 0-18. Families will be referred by the ASL Città di Torino [City of Turin local healthcare authority], in particular through the Psychology Unit, whose psychologists work within the health services of the ASL itself. An estimated 15 to 20 families will be reached.
