On Friday, 26 January 2024, the new FibroLab Research Laboratory was inaugurated in the Health Centre building of the City of Torino Healthcare authority, in Lungo Dora Savona 26. The lab focuses on early diagnosis and studying molecules able to slow the progression of chronic kidney diseases.
“Reale Foundation is proud of having contributed to setting up this new research laboratory, since health and preventing chronic diseases are among the main areas of intervention that the Foundation supports for achieving the 2030 Agenda goals”, Luigi Lana, President of Reale Foundation, states. “The initiative again confirms the importance of ethical, public-private partnerships’ generating value and positive impacts for the communities where we operate.”
Chronic kidney failure is a slow but gradual reduction in kidney function. In Piedmont alone, it is estimated that more than 400 thousand individuals may be affected. Through its work, FibroLab aims to improve the diagnostic-treatment path for patients with kidney disease, identifying therapeutic strategies that can prevent the progression of the disease and its becoming chronic.
